Maurice "Moz" Cavey - always wanted to be a lead guitarist after seeing Jeff Beck playing with the Yardbirds - first gig was in a school band around 1967, played in the High Wycombe Blues Loft in 1969; played in various bands at Oxford University in the early seventies, including Blond Lick, Bluebird(74-76), and Tiger Lily (76-78). Bluebird has the distinction of being remembered by Tony Blair and former Ugly Rumors members as being much better than them (see Mark Ellen article in The Times 3 March 2005). Tiger Lily was a very successful Oxford band and came second in the "Melody Maker" national rock competition in 1978.
After a quiet phase in the 80's Moz subsequently played in Oxford folk band "Driving Wheel" with Pete Acty and Ian Giles in the early 90's. He also guested on an album by Tim Healey of "Beautiful Jo" records. In the late 90's he became a regular guitarist/singer at the Wednesday night Marlborough House sessions in Western Road, Oxford, and also played in an Oxford-based jazz band for several years, performing standards. However, at the Marlborough he also met Mark from "Branded" and couldn't resist the call to join a rock band again...the rest is history..
Main guitar influences: Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, John Etheridge, John Williams.
Plays: Rock, Blues, Country, Folk, Jazz, Classical - you name it..
